Cape Fear Botanical Garden

Carowinds

There’s so much to do and explore in this 398-acre amusement park including amazing Roller Coasters, thrill rides, the Camp Snoopy kids area, Dinosaurs Alive and seasonal events and entertainment! Admission to their awesome water park, Carolina Harbor, is included with admission.
Carolina Tiger Rescue

Carolina Tiger Rescue provides lifelong sanctuary to more than 50 wildcats and offers educational tours and field trips to thousands of visitors each year at their 55 acre facility. They are home to ten species of animals, including tigers, lions, cougars, and kinkajous.

House in the Horseshoe
288 Alston House Rd, Sanford, NC 27330
Visit this historic home in a horseshoe bend of the Deep River in northern Moore County. Built around 1772 by Phillip Alston and sometimes known as the Alston House, its walls bear numerous scars and bullet holes sustained during a Revolutionary War skirmish.
Kersey Valley

Museum of Life and Science

NC Transportation Museum

The NC Transportation Museum is located on the site of what was once Southern Railway Company's largest steam locomotive repair facility. The museum features an authentic train depot, antique automobiles, and a 37-bay Roundhouse that includes 25 locomotives, dozens of rail cars and other exhibit areas.
North Carolina Zoo

The NC Zoo is seated on a 2,200-acre tract of land in the Uwharrie Mountains. Approximately 500 acres of this property have been developed into the largest "natural habitat" zoo in the United States. The animals are given enclosures that mimic their natural habitats to include trees, ponds, rocks, grass and dirt.
Putt-Putt Fun Center

Raven Rock State Park

Whether it’s Lanier Falls, the Fish Traps rapids or the massive Raven Rock, Raven Rock State Park is an ageless landmark for river travelers. Town Creek Indian Mound

Town Creek, situated on Little River (a tributary of the Great Pee Dee in central North Carolina), has been the focus of a consistent program of archaeological research under one director for more than half a century. The people who lived at the Town Creek site during its heyday have been referred to as the "Pee Dee Indians."
